Barbados Higher Education Institutions
Barbados comprises academic, technical and vocational colleges as well as university. In Barbados, there are four institutions of higher education which fall under the supervision of the Ministry of Education.
Following are the higher education institutions in Barbados:
The University of the West Indies
The University of the West Indies caters to pupils from the English-speaking Caribbean. The university has 3 campuses in Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago. This institution of higher education offers a wide range of degrees and certificate programmes at the 3 campuses. The faculty of law is situated in Barbados, at the Cave Hill Campus.
The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus' study programmes provides a multitude of the undergraduate and graduate degree courses. Following are the academic faculties of the UWI:

Barbados Community College (BCC)
The BCC offers a multitude of study programmes in academic, technical and vocational fields. It is best for pupils who have completed their secondary level education and want to receive an Associate Degree before entering university. The associate degrees programme requires 2 years of full-time study. This college has two campuses with the main campus being the Eyrie Campus, situated at ‘The Eyrie’, Howell’s Cross Road, St. Michael; while the other campus is situated Marine Gardens.

The BCC offers associate degree in Arts and Science- applied Arts and applied science programme.
Non-Associate Degree Courses
The Barbados Community College offers non-associate degree courses, such as post-graduate degree diploma, certificates & diplomas, and post-associate degree diplomas in science, technical or applied areas.
Bachelor Degree Programmes
The Barbados Community College offers a bachelor's degree in Science (Hospitality or tourism management), Fine Arts, and Education.

Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic (SJPP)
The SJPP offers study programmes in commerce, electrical, agriculture, building and engineering trades, and garment studies. In addition to its own study programmes, the Polytechnic provides training for the apprentices of the Barbados Vocational Training Board.
The Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic in Barbados provides technical and vocational training leading to a diploma and certificate in a particular area of study. Following are the courses offered:

Erdiston Teachers Training College
The Erdiston teachers training college offers training to non-graduate and graduate teachers.
Following are the courses offered at the Erdiston teachers’ training college:
- Advanced counselling
- Advanced sign language
- Basic counseling

- Early childhood education - Level 1
- Early childhood education - Level 2
- Effective parenting
The college also offers many other programmes that aim to enhance the skills of the teachers. It offers certificates, In-service diplomas, and postgraduate diploma programmes.
